It seems as though the traditional grooms cake hasn’t been of particular importance since Julia Roberts was featured in Steel Magnolias with the infamous armadillo grooms cake,  tail and all. The brides and grooms of this modern age have adapted new traditions to replace the tall tiered, elegantly decorated cakes. For instance, desert tables, cupcake towers, and candy bags have been spotted just as much, if not more, than a photogenic bakery concoction.  However, there are still those who choose to keep certain traditions alive, especially when the bride and groom can’t come to an agreement, how ironic, on flavor, icing thickness, or theme. Here are a few ways the groom can obtain a little slice of spotlight on this memorable day.

Are your future husband’s favorite things not really meshing with your wedding day theme? Try delivering a little dose of the groom with an out of this world groom’s cake. Superheroes, Star Wars, and sports teams are among the most popular. Marvel heroes have taken Hollywood by storm, why not your wedding cake? Star Wars weekends and conventions are bigger than ever at convention centers and theme parks, bring a little sci-fi into your fantasy.

Many men grew up watching a particular sports team at their favorite stadium; why not duplicate that on your wedding day. Favorite foods, fishing and sports equipment, and even man’s best friend have been featured as a man’s cake of choice.
